Regional Community Agencies

 

  Lake Elsinore San Jacinto Watersheds Authority (LESJWA)

Usually held at 3:00 PM the third Thursday of every month at EVMWD, 31315 Chaney St, Lake Elsinore.  Formed in April 2000, the Lake Elsinore and San Jacinto Watersheds Authority is a joint powers authority entrusted with State and local funds to improve water quality and wildlife habitats, primarily in Lake Elsinore, as well as in Canyon Lake and the surrounding watersheds.

  Northwest Mosquito and Vector Control District

Usually held at 3:00 PM the third Thursday of every month at the District Headquarters, 1966 Compton Ave. Corona, CA 92881.  The Northwest Mosquito and Vector Control District was formed on December 28, 1959 and provides vector control services (mosquito, flies, rats, Africanized honeybees, black flies, midges and occasionally other vectors of minor public health importance) over an area of 350 square miles with a population of approximately 800,000 in the northwest portion of Riverside County.

  Regional Conservation Authority (RCA)

Usually held at 12:30 PM the first Monday of every month at auditorium (first floor) at the County Office building, 4080 Lemon St, Riverside.  The Western Riverside County Regional Conservation Authority (RCA) formed in 2004 to achieve one of America’s most ambitious environmental efforts, the Riverside County Multiple Species Habitat Conservation Plan (MSHCP).  The Plan protects 146 native species of plants, birds, and animals, and preserves a half-million acres of their habitats.

  Riverside County Transportation Commission (RCTC)

Usually held at 9:30 AM the second Wednesday of every month at auditorium (first floor) at the County Office building, 4080 Lemon St, RiversideThe 34 members of the Commission are responsible for coordinating highway and transit planning and identifying projects for state and federal funding, and all aspects of region wide planning for Riverside County’s mobility.

  Riverside Transit Agency (RTA)

Usually held at 2:00 PM the fourth Thursday of every month at auditorium (first floor) at the County Office building, 4080 Lemon St, Riverside.  The Riverside Transit Agency (RTA) was established as a Joint Powers Agency on August 15, 1975 and began operating bus service on March 16, 1977.  RTA is governed by a board of directors comprised of 22 elected officials from 18 cities in western Riverside County and four members of the County Board of Supervisors.

  Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG)

Usually held at 7:30 AM the first Friday of every month at auditorium (twelfth floor) at the Los Angeles County Office building, 818 West 7th St. Los Angeles.  Founded in 1965, the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) is a Joint Powers Authority under California state law, established as an association of local governments and agencies that voluntarily convene to address regional issues, while providing opportunities for involvement in regional programs.

  Western Riverside Council of Governments (WRCOG)

Usually held at 2:00 PM the first Monday of every month at auditorium (first floor) at the County Office building, 4080 Lemon St, Riverside.  Comprised of representatives from 17 cities, the Riverside County Board of Supervisors, the Eastern and Western Municipal Water Districts, and the Morongo Band of Mission Indians, WRCOG focuses on a number of regional matters important to Riverside County.  Representatives meet monthly to discuss policy issues and recommendations, while setting policy for the organization.
